Reliable Touchscreen Technology for Rugged Display Products

Many HMI applications require an industrial grade touchscreen technology that stands up to continuous use.

VarTech monitors and panel computers can be equipped with the following industrial touchscreen technologies.

Enhanced Touch

Resistive Touch Enhanced
Many apps and programs throughout the industrial sector are becoming more ‘swipe’ and ‘slide’ oriented.  VarTech’s new resistive touch enhanced has a smoother and more refined touchscreen surface which allows for easy, smartphone-like operability while having all the same benefits of a resistive touchscreen. Resistive touch enhanced is pressure activated and can be operated with a finger, gloved hand, stylus, or other objects like the tip of a pen or a pencil eraser.

Available on Select Sizes: DiamondVue, All-Weather, ToughStation, ToughStation Workstations and C1D2 Hazardous HMI

Projective Capacitive Touch

PCAP
This touchscreen technology works by using a conductive grid that recognizes changes in its electromagnetic field caused by touch from a finger, stylus, or gloved hand. PCAP is the most widely used touch technology today, and offers more responsiveness, allowing for added finger operations such as swiping, pinching, zooming, rotating, and even responding to certain gestures. Thick glass overlays or vandal-resistant protective layers can be installed directly over the PCAP touch-sensitive surface without interfering with touch functionality. Projective capacitive touch advantages include outdoor operability in the rain, snow, ice, and dust; multi-touch gesturing; activation by gloved hand or stylus; functionality even if the glass is scratched or broken. ArmorTouch

Glass-on-film resistive touch
ArmorTouch touchscreen is a durable glass-film-glass resistive touchscreen technology with a durable glass surface that is scratch, abrasion, water, and chemical resistant. The pressure-activated resistive touchscreen can be activated by finger, glove, or stylus and will continue to function with contaminants such as oil, grease, dirt, or water on the screen. ArmorTouch touchscreen technology and construction allow it to be used across a wide range of harsh operating environments where a durable and reliable resistive touchscreen is required.

Available on Select Sizes: DiamondVue, All-Weather, ToughStation, ToughStation Workstations and C1D1 and C1D2 Hazardous Workstations

ArmorTouch Touchscreen Technology

Standard Resistive Touch

Resistive touchscreen technology consists of two transparent conducting layers each with densely packed sensors. These layers are separated by an air gap and react when pressure is applied to the screen. As the outer layer is pressed against the layer beneath it a connection is made which registers the input. Resistive touchscreens offer stability and usability and can be operated with a finger, gloved hand, stylus, or other objects such as a pencil eraser.
