Hazardous Area HMI for Class I – Division 1 and 2 Applications

Hazardous area HMI monitors and computers for Class I – Division 2 certified operations.

VarTech’s ToughStation series offers hazardous area HMI fully sealed monitors and computers for use in Class I Div 2 certified environments. These rugged CID2 monitors and computers are designed for safe HMI functionality and visualization in locations where explosive or flammable gasses and vapors may exist during an abnormal occurrence such as a leak.

Our CID2 industrial-grade monitors and computers have corrosion-resistant 316 stainless steel enclosures with NEMA 4X (IP66) protection against moisture and dust.  Some hazardous locations include petroleum refineries, gasoline storage, and dispensing areas, aircraft fuel servicing areas, utility gas plants, petrochemical manufacturing, and mining.

Class I Division 2 certified panel mount monitors and computers are available from our DiamondVue Series and offer the same level of hazardous area protection when installed correctly in a CID2-qualified, sealed enclosure.

C1D1 and C1D2 purge-protected monitors and computers.

These monitors and computers are purge protected and can be configured to allow safe hazardous area HMI operations in Division 1 or Division 2 areas. The purge protects internal energized components from accumulating flammable gases and explosive elements in the atmosphere by monitoring and regulating pressurized air or inert gas within the system.

This process reduces the classification within the purge-protected enclosure from Division 1 (or Division 2) to non-hazardous. VarTech’s purge-protected monitors and computers are available with Type X or Type Z purge systems, which can be configured for safe operation in various hazardous area locations.
