LCD Controller Options, Accessories, and Features

VARTECH offers a selection of LCD controllers. Some of these controllers come with built in Features and add-on Options. This page will help spell out some of the Features/Options offered.

Application Notes

USB Media Failover

Some boards have the capability to play a media file via USB. This feature is called ‘USB Media Failover’. This means that when the video input source is no signal / loss of sync on a designated input, the built-in media player displays the video content stored in the USB memory stick on the display automatically.

The Built-in media player allows user to insert a standard USB drive, and if/when video signal is lost the unit will restart and begin loop playing a media file on the USB drive.

  • Drive must contain only one video file
  • The video file must be in one of the following formats: MP4
  • Enable “Failover” in OSD menu to turn ON/OFF.

Programmable Hotkey

Some controllers have Programmable Hotkeys built in. This allows the user to program the OSD
button functionality when not in the Menu.

Example:
SVH-1920v2 Has these options for hot key programmability.

Hot key 1 : Brightness / Contrast / Inputs / Aspect Ratio/ Zoom / Freeze / PIP Size / PIP Swap/ PIP ON/OFF / Saturation / Hue / Backlight / Auto Picture Setup / No Function

Hot key 2 : Brightness / Contrast / Inputs / Aspect Ratio/ Zoom / Freeze / PIP Size / PIP Swap/ PIP ON/OFF / Saturation / Hue / Backlight / Auto Picture Setup / No Function

Auto Dimming

The Auto-Dimming add on is for automatic dimming control. Currently the board enables auto dimming of the display from 10% – 100%

The photo sensor is usually located on the front of the display, behind a cover lens.

  • Some controller setups allow for minimum brightness to be set via OSD menu. This can further set the minimum brightness level, for the automatic dimming.

Please note: Not all options are available for all controller setups.

Bluetooth Control

• The Bluetooth control allows the user to connect to the display via Bluetooth, using an
APP (IOS & Android) on their Smartphone or Tablet.

• The APP allows user: OSD navigation, volume control, brightness control, power, mute, Input selection, and other functionality.

• The name displayed in the Bluetooth app can be set to any custom alphanumeric value.
The user could specify the name that will be displayed in the app.
o The units Bluetooth name will be set during production and could not be changed by the user.
o The Default Value will be the serial number of the unit “VNCXXXXXXXXX”.

• The password needed to connect to the unit, in the Bluetooth app, can be set to any 6- digit numeric value.
o The units Bluetooth password will be set during production and could not be changed by the user.
o The default value will be “123456”

Please note: Not all options are available for all controller setups.
Example: ALR-1400v2 does not have Audio functionality.

Custom Port Naming

Some of the Controller setups allow the names of the inputs, displayed in the OSD menu on the display, to be changed.

Example:
VGA1 -> QC station 1
VGA2 -> Receiving 1

• The user could specify desired names for each of the inputs.
o The input names would be set during production and could not be changed by the user.

PiP

Some controllers offer PiP as a built-in feature.

Image Flip

Most controllers can use an IR remote for control. Includes (but not limited to) OSD navigation,
volume adjustment, PiP control, Input control, and other functionalities.

Audio

Some controller setups have audio add on options available. Built in Speakers or audio out connections could be made available.

  • “USB Media Failover” can use the Speakers or a line out jack (if equipped).
  • The HDMI audio could be passed thru to a Line Out jack, or speakers.

RS-232 control protocols

Most controller boards allow for direct plug in RS-232 Protocols.
The OSD function can be controlled through sending the RS-232 protocol.

Please note: This is a line command UI. To use it the user needs to be familiar with entering commands in order to execute the OSD function.

Custom Splash (startup) screens are available. The image displayed when the display is powered on can be customized. Please Contact for more info.
