Rugged Monitors and Workstation Panel PCs for use in Hazardous Area Environments

Class I Division 2 Certified Monitors and Panel PCs for Operation in Hazardous Areas

VarTech’s ToughStation Series offers Class I Div 2 certified fully-sealed monitors and panel PCs for use in hazardous area environments. These rugged enclosed monitors and panel PCs are designed for safe human-machine interface (HMI) visualization and operations in locations where explosive or flammable gasses and vapors may exist during an abnormal occurrence such as a leak. Our CID2 industrial grade monitors and panel PCs have corrosion resistant 316-stainless steel enclosures with NEMA 4X (IP66) protection against moisture and dust.  Some hazardous area locations include: petroleum refineries, gasoline storage and dispensing areas, aircraft fuel servicing areas, utility gas plants, petrochemical manufacturing, and mining.

Class I Division 2 certified panel mount monitors and panel PCs are available from our DiamondVue Series of rugged displays, and offer the same level of hazardous area protection when properly installed in a CID2 qualified, sealed enclosure.

Purge Protected Division 1 and Division 2 Monitors Panel PCs

These monitors and workstation panel PCs are purge protected and configured to allow safe HMI visualization and machine control in Division 1 or Division 2 areas. The purge system works by protecting internal energized components from the accumulation of flammable gases and explosive elements in the atmosphere by monitoring and regulating pressurize air or inert gas within the system. This process reduces the classification within the purge protected enclosure from Division 1 (or Division 2) to non-hazardous. VarTech’s purge protected monitors and panel PC workstations are available with Type X or Type Z purge systems, and can be configured for safe operation in various hazardous area locations.

Panel Enclosure Workstation

These fully-sealed touchscreen computer workstations are designed with a purge and pressurization system that can be configured to allow safe HMI visualization and machine control in Division 1 areas. Energized components are protected from the accumulation of flammable gases and explosive elements in the outside atmosphere by pressurizing the enclosure with clean air or inert gas which is regulated and monitored by the purge system. This process reduces the classification within the protected enclosure from Division 1 to non-hazardous. VarTech’s purge protected monitors and computer workstations are available Type X and Type Z purge systems, and can be configured for safe operation in various hazardous area locations.
